InsulWall: Keeping (Chocolate) Hearts From Melting

Chex Finer Foods is the leading specialty and natural foods distributor in New England. Chex focuses on independent and leading retailers with a successful group of differentiated items.

Over the past 3 years, Chex Finer Foods has seen its inventory double, especially its candy and chocolate selection. Sales growth in the candy and chocolate category has surpassed milk. 

To support its increased capacity, Chex moved to a larger facility, a 60,000 square foot distribution center in Mansfield, Massachusetts.  A cooler room was designed to store chocolates and temperature-sensitive confections at temperatures between 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit.

InsulWall® was selected as the temperature-dividing solution for the cooler room. The business decision for using InsulWall was based on its flexibility and modularity as opposed to the expense and business interruption of a permanent wall. InsulWall’s thermal properties also ensured that the chocolates, including their best selling Chuao Maple Bacon Bar and Justin’s Organic Peanut Butter Cups, were kept at the ideal storage temperatures.
